Essential life skills for adulting
Hello! I hope you are staying warm on this chilly Wednesday (well it is chilly in Melbourne!)
Before I get into sharing the content of this week’s newsletter, I wanted to let you know that Planned + Present is open for registrations and kicks off next Monday 6th June. If you are keen to hit reset and get organised at home so you can have more time for family and the things you love, click here now to sign up and join me!
Many readers of the Planning With Kids have been with me for over 10 years and their kids are starting to get older. I have received lots of questions about how can you prepare kids for being independent capable adults.
To help partly answer these questions, I have put together a list of 37 essential life skills for adulting. In no way does this list cover all of the skills you need to manage as an adult in the world but it covers what I think are some of the most important life skills needed for older teenagers and young adults to get them through the basics.
Click through to the blog post 37 essential life skills for adulting and you will also find links to helpful resources for the skills that you can use to teach your kids or send to them directly so they can sort it themselves!
How Panax Ginseng can help fight fatigue
Panax Ginseng is an adaptogenic herb that has been used in Chinese medicine and herbal medicine for centuries. Panax Ginseng grows in Korea, northeastern China, and far eastern Siberia.
Like all adaptogens, Panax Ginseng functions as a mild stress-mimetic, which activates the adaptive stress-response signaling pathways to cope with severe stress. (1) Panax Ginseng helps regulates the response to the hormonal changes caused due to stress, thus maintaining homeostasis more effectively.

Panax ginseng contains many active substances including ginsenosides or panaxosides. Modern pharmacological experiments have shown that ginsenosides have many biological activities. For example, ginsenosides have good effects in anticancer, anti-inflammation, antioxidation, antiaging, antifatigue, and physiological functions. (2)
We have carefully chosen to include Panax Ginseng in Adapt Relax because, in addition to its benefits for stress, it has also been shown to be effective in helping fight fatigue. Various studies have linked key components in ginseng, like polysaccharides and oligopeptides, with lower oxidative stress and higher energy production in cells, which could help fight fatigue.
In one study those given Panax Ginseng experienced less physical and mental fatigue, as well as reductions in oxidative stress, than those taking the placebo. A review of over 155 studies suggested that ginseng supplements may not only help reduce fatigue but also enhance physical activity.(3)
