How I created my life purpose statement

I hope you have had an excellent weekend. Following on from my newsletter on Living on purpose, I thought I would share with you how I created my life purpose statement. I had some business coaching a number of years ago and the coach asked me what my life purpose was and how my work fitted into it. At that point I didn’t have a life purpose statement and while I focused on yearly goals, I hadn’t really given conscious thought to my overall life purpose, let alone writing it down as a statement.
My homework of course was then to write a life purpose statement. The coach gave me some general pointers to consider, I did some internet searches and came up with an approach to help me write my life purpose statement.
Below I outline the steps I took to write my life purpose statement, the nine life purpose statements I drafted from this process and which one I chose and still use today.
1). Important themes in my life
I brainstormed themes that were/are important to me. I just wrote them out as they came to me and didn’t overthink it too much. This was what I came up with:
