Hello!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have had time to relax over the last few days. 2022 is almost over and I have completed my review of the year so I can then start working on my goal for 2023.
2022 was a pretty good year for me with many highlights but it certainly wasn’t perfect with a number of injuries stopping me from running this year and some failures in terms of the habits I wanted to set. You can see my 2022 scorecard here - Annual review questions to ask.
As I note in my review post, it is important to look backward before choosing a new path forward with a goal for the new year. This year for paid subscribers of this newsletter I will be running goal-setting workshops in January that will include reviewing the year that just passed. They will run for approximately an hour and I will guide you through the steps I take to set my annual goal. A workbook will be sent out in the lead-up to the workshop and while I will do a lot of the talking, attendees will be doing a lot of writing! The goal of the workshop will be to have you leave it with your goal statement for 2023 written and habits chosen to support that goal.
Due to the nature of the workshops and people sharing personal information these sessions will not be recorded. The workshop dates and times are as follows:
Tuesday 17th January, 12pm - 1pm ADST
Tuesday 24th January, 7pm - 8pm ADST
If you want to take part in the workshops make sure you are a paid subscriber by Thursday 12th January so you can find out all the details and join in.
32 books I read in 2022
My goal for 2022 was to Cultivate routines to expand my knowledge and experiences. I believe that there is so much to learn from both fiction and non-fiction books. As part of this goal, I defined a supporting habit of reading daily and my target for the year was to read 25 books. I ended up reading 32 books which I was super happy with (this included no audiobooks but I did listen to a few of those too!).
I have collated all the books I read this year, month by month, in this one post as a reference for me and for you too! I listed my top 5 books for the year also. You can find the post here - 32 books I read in 2022.
Resources to learn more about our First Nations Peoples
Another habit I successfully set this year to support my goal for 2022 was to invest one hour a week learning about our First Nations Peoples. Each month in my monthly reviews, I noted some resources that I had read, watched or listened to that helped increase my knowledge and understanding of our First Nations Peoples. In the following post, I have listed them month by month in the hope that it is a resource for others who are also trying to educate themselves - Resources to learn more about our First Nations Peoples.
I hope your year ended well and that you have taken the time to reflect on what you have achieved.
Happy New Year!
Nic
Thanks Nic, always love a reading list. I also really liked Four Thousand Weeks.
