Almost launched!
Happy Friday! This is the first weekly update. I will let you know how I have progressed with my tasks and you can add in the comments below how you went!
It has been a strange week for those of us in Victoria and NSW. Victoria has entered a snap 5 day lockdown and NSW has had their lockdown extended by another week. I am thinking of all of you in lockdown as I myself write this email in lockdown in Melbourne.
Some things you might like
Three things that I think you might enjoy!
Brené with Dr. Pippa Grange on Fearing Less - I loved this podcast. While it does talk a lot about sports people and sports people at an elite level, what Pippa says applies equally to all of us. Pippa lived in Australia for a number of years and worked with AFL teams.
Why I Run Parking-Lot Laps - my coach shared this article in our Facebook Group and I loved it so much! Don’t let the fact that it has the word run in the title put you off reading it if you aren’t a runner. I sent this to my non-running sisters who both totally related to it! If you tend towards the type A personality type, you will definitely relate to it.
Liberate Gluten Free Crumpets - these crumpets are actually amazing. It has an ingredient list you can understand, a tiny amount of added sugar, they are gluten free and they taste like real crumpets. They are quite pricey but as a special treat I highly recommend them.
Tasks to achieve for the week to help work towards my personal goal
Create a monthly menu plan - done! I actually planned out until the end of August. If you are after some menu plan inspiration you can find it here.
Book in weekly time for community activity - I have sent off an email and am now waiting to schedule my time.
Cook every night this week - done!
It was great to have a clear focus this week especially once we were put into lockdown today. I find it even more important to know what it is I want to achieve when we are in lockdown as otherwise, the days can feel too open and I find myself drifting.
Tasks to achieve for the week to help work towards my business goal
Write the introductory email for NOW with Nicole Avery - this is scheduled to go next week.
Write the first Monday email (this email!) - done :)
Import newsletter subscribers from old newsletter to Substack and then hit send! - I didn’t realise it would take time to approve the import of subscribers. By the time it was improved I felt it was then too late to send it out from Substack and decided to wait until next week to launch it. This would mean that I would have this Friday update published too for people to see.
On Monday I wrote “If I had only written “finalise launch NOW with Nicole Avery” then I would feel like I had not achieved anything.” and this would have been true if I had not broken down the last stages of the launch into the above key tasks. I put in a good deal of work this week on the reformatting of the newsletter, so I do feel that I achieved quite a lot. I am excited to take the last step next week to launch it into the world.
Tasks to achieve for the week to help work towards my health and fitness goal
Practice yoga daily - I adore Yoga with Kassandra and practice yoga with the help of her YouTube videos. My favourite sessions this week were 15 min Deep Stretch for Hips - Slow Flow Yoga, Morning Yoga for Tight & Sore Muscles - DEEP STRETCH and 20 min Yoga for Tight Calves & Ankles.
Sleep at least 8 hours a night - nailed this.
Run only towards the end of the week if everything feels good - I did go for a run Thursday morning with two friends. I felt good to go but the looming lockdown definitely played a part in heading out the door. I will take the rest of the week off I think.
I am still very much on a high from the marathon and given that we are in lockdown again, I am feeling even more grateful that I had the opportunity to run it last weekend. Running the marathon was my peak fitness goal for this year. I am really not sure what I will target next and I am going to give myself some time to enjoy getting back into running and running for just the love of it before setting myself another target.
NOW it is your turn!
I want to hear how your week was and what progress you made towards your goal this week. Please leave a comment on this post. Remember even if you only ticked off one thing, it is still progress and something to acknowledge and be happy with.
If you have questions feel free to drop them in the comments too! Happy to answer them. Nic x
